Green Mission for Bengal

Almost 374 crore was approved by the state level committee looking after green projects for beautification and protecting Bengal’s flora and fauna. The Green Cities Mission will involve setting up underground cable in select towns, green zones in towns and Kolkata, replacing old street lights with LED, using energy efficient lights, conservation and beautification of water bodies.

The latest green zone development work is underway on the stretch from Kolkata airport to Parama Island on EM Bypass. New Town Kolkata Development authority and Nabadiganta Industrial Townships have taken up the work of removing all overhead cables and making them underground. Around 690 parks and 180 water bodies will be revamped under this scheme.
