Train services to North Bengal might be suspended

With every river in North Bengal flowing over the danger mark and not showing any signs of receding, there is a possibility that Northern Frontier Railways will have to keep their rail service suspended for almost a month. The Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Frontier Railways said: 'With most railway tracks under water, it will be impossible to run trains between North and South Bengal before one month.'

To help movement of tourists and others, the state government has thus arranged for extra bus services to ferry passengers between Malda and Siliguri. With peak puja season round the corner, it will be difficult for tourists to commute to North Bengal via trains.
