Son of Bengal, Army veteran Abhijit Guha appointed by UN

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gutteres has appointed Bengal’s pride Retired Lieutenant General Abhijit Guha to head the Hodeidah Mission of Yemen as per the Hodeidah agreement. He will also oversee the re-deployment of forces in the area as per need. Incidentally Guha has 39 years of international and national experience, serving not just India but the world in leading military missions and brokering peace among warring factions across the world. This time he has to do so in civil-war ravaged Yemen.

He has also served as head of many peace keeping operations across Africa and Middle East as well as investigated many war criminals and atrocities. Guha is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College, the College of Combat and the National Defence College in India.
