New reptile fossil of India 100m years older than dinos kolkata
The fossil remains of a horned herbivorous reptile named as Shringasaurus Indicus has been unearthed by paleontologists and researchers from the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata. Belonging to the Triassic period, that preceded the Jurassic Age when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, this new reptile fossil could throw new light on the history of evolution.
This horned reptile roamed central India’s Satpura Gondowana basin about 245 million years ago. The excavation was conducted under paleontologist Saswati Bandopadhyay of ISI, Kolkata.
