Netaji statue to honour his submarine journey
Seventy-four years after his historic voyage in German and Japanese submarines, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s daring maritime voyages have been recognized finally by Indian Navy. The Eastern Naval Command inaugurated Netaji’s 8ft high statue at the country’s only military installation INS Netaji Subhas, named after him.
Netaji took a 90-day voyage in German and Japanese submarines. His transfer from a German submarine to a Japanese submarine in 1943 off the coast of Madagascar was the only known instance of submarine-to-submarine transfer during World War II.
