Music department of Don Bosco Kolkata, creates a global musical bond through unique show
A global musical phenomenon is ringing through the corridors of a well-known Kolkata school. The Music Department of Don Bosco has engineered launch of a project where artists from across the globe come together to spread the message of love, hope and unity. Named as We are the World, artists from Japan to Brazil from Canada to Australia have joined to share just one message of Love, Hope and Unity. Peter Gomes, Head of Music Department at Don Bosco School Park Circus, coordinated 80 artists from 32 countries for this unique project.
Gomes and his team started working on the project in May, when a nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic was at its peak in India. A 6-minute video project had its world premiere on September 25. “This song is recreated with the intent of creating a global bonding. All music and vocal parts are created by us. No third party content has been used,” Gomes said. Martinho-Zinho from Brazil compiled and created the video for the project.

‘We Are the World’ was a charity single originally recorded by the supergroup USA for Africa in 1985. The original album originated when artistes Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Michael Omartian and Lionel Richie came together to create one of the most iconic songs of all time – We are the World. That song was intended to spread the message of love and charity that would eventually go on to sell more than 7 million copies and raise more than US$60 million for African famine relief.
