Meet Ankita of Gobordanga who won Saregamapa 2019 crown

One difficult song after another… Ankita mesmerized the audience and the judges with her mellifluous voice and her rare talent in copying even the superb style of singing of Kishore Kumar. She not just sang on stage, she even acted. Be it the difficult Padosan song of the finals, where she literally sang a duet of Manna Dey And Kishore Kumar, alone, enacting the whole scene, to the famous songs of Asha Bhonsle, Ankita’s voice range and quality is at par with any Bollywood playback singer. 

So much so, that even famous Bollywood singer Sukhwinder declared on national television that he is ready to wait for 4-6 months, but he will sing a duet only with Ankita. What is surprising is that Ankita is just a student of Class XII of Gobordanga’s Ichhapur High School and comes from very middle class background. Her first teacher was her mother, who gave her talim in classical vocal. Ankita’s family and school friends as well as her teachers are super excited.

Once she reached school after winning the crown, Ankita was specially felicitated for making her school proud. Her family was also honoured. But now Ankita will be concentrating on her studies as her Higher Secondary examination next year is only a few months away. And the long gap from regular studies is a challenge to meet now, but his teachers and classmates are very supportive indeed.
