Meet 9-year-old Ayush Nandi of Bagbazar, who made an exceptional Durga with paper
Nine-year-old wonder boy Ayush Nandi has created a stupendous Durga idol with paper to entertain himself and others in the family during these times of COVID Pandemic when most of us will watch Puja from the safety of our homes. Ayush like many others of his age was feeling down being confined to home and constant online classes etc. Life has been really tough for children as they have literally lost their freedom. However, little Ayush was undaunted. Instead of watching TV or mobile phone the whole day long, he decided to get creative and collected paper, gum, some sprinklers and Thermocol.

And up came one of the most beautiful paper idols that Kolkata has ever seen. A resident of Bagbazar, Ayush’s father is also an artist and he encouraged his son. When father Narayan Nandi saw the creation of his son, he was himself mesmerized and clicked a video that he shared on social media. Ayush’s Durga turned an instant hit and the video went viral. Lot of people wished to see his Durga. The idol will thus be kept at Habib’s Salon, for public view considering the Corona pandemic, Ayush will not allow anyone to come home. However, he is proud to have received a certificate and gifts for his exceptional creation.
