Kolkata gets new museum at Town Hall

Kolkata will get a new museum at Town Hall emphasizing on the city’s heritage quotient. The museum will be exclusively on Kolkata’s past and historic events. The museum project is being executed by a group of heritage enthusiasts of Purono Kolkatar Golpo group and IIT Kharagpur will execute the project. The museum will have both digital and physical documents.

Incidentally Kolkata did not start with the history of Job Charnock. Rather it had been mentioned even in Ain-e-Akbari, much earlier than the time when British legacy started. What you would expect to see in the museum includes old material and literature on pre-colonial Kolkata, Kolkata upto the Battle of Plassey including the early days of East India Company and the attack on Kolkata y Nawab Siraj-ud-daullah. Then comes the episode of Bengal Renaissance and finally how this city played a vital role in the Freedom Struggle of India. 

The complete metamorphosis of the city till post-independent era will also be showcased.
