Do not miss Bengal’s tableau tomorrow at Republic Day parade
Bengal will be showcasing an innovative tableau at the Republic Day parade tomorrow. The tableau primarily revolves around two legendary men of the nation, who have strived to gain independence from the British rule in their own ways ----one through non-violence and the other using his mighty pen as a tool of protest. Yes, we are talking about Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore. The themes are‘Santiniketan’ and ‘Mahatma Gandhi at Beliaghata.’
Tagore and Gandhiji had met in March 1915 at Santiniketan’s ‘Shyamoli.’ The tableau will feature this historic meeting along with several other meetings later on. The two stalwarts had several differences in opinions, yet they met and discussed about the future of their motherland reeling under the oppression of a colonial rule. On the eve of India’s first Independence Day, Gandhiji was in Beliaghata, to stop the violence that followed the partition of Bengal in 1947. The bloody riots between Hindus and Muslims is still raw in the minds of many. Bengal’s tableau will preach the importance of peace and unity through the eyes of two of the greatest men of India. Do not miss it tomorrow!
