COVID-19 Plasma Bank coming up in Kolkata!
Plasma therapy has been of great help in treating COVID-19 patients in India. Several critical pa-tients in New Delhi have responded to this therapy and have even successfully come out of ventila-tors. Recent was a minister of the Kejriwal government. The blood plasma from blood donors who have recovered from COVID-19, is injected to infected patients that help the immune system to be boosted and fight against the virus.
Keeping this in mind, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, declared setting up of plasma bank in Kolkata. This was indeed needed, and just like a blood bank, any patient who the doctor thinks can be treated with plasma therapy can get benefits. The bank will be set up at the Calcutta Medical College. The chief minister also mentioned that the Tropical School of Medicine and Beliaghata ID hospitals will be further upgraded to enhance the COVID-19 facilities in these two hospitals.
