Abhijit Banerjee will receive Nobel Prize this afternoon at Stockholm

The Nobel Prize Award ceremony starts at 2.30 pm IST and this year it’s a proud moment for India as Abhijit Banerjee who spent a sizeable portion of his school and university education in Kolkata will receive the Nobel Prize for Economics at Stockholm. Though his brother and mother are with him at Stockholm, for thousands of Calcuttans who had been ecstatic and shared the pride of Abhijit winning this prestigious award, television and live mobile streaming would be the only chance to share the moment.

The Nobel Prize website will also do a live streaming and one can watch it on their site. Similarly most Indian TV channels including Bengali ones will also live stream the function from 2.30 pm IST. Incidentally Banerjee will be in Kolkata next month and Presidency University where he was a student plans to felicitate him. They have already put his name on the Wall of Fame. Even his school South Point has plans to felicitate him along with the state government. As for now get glued to your TV sets and share this moment of pride and honour for all of us!
