Bengal’s first Rainbow Wedding, Transgender couple tie knot

Tista Das looked like any other Bengali bride, while Dipan Chakraborty was the groom as they exchanged their garlands with the priest chanting wedding mantras in the background. But this was a wedding with a difference. It was the first Rainbow Wedding of Bengal where a transgender couple got married, and that too in an open ceremony.

Tista was originally Susanto and underwent a sex change surgery 15 years ago. While Dipan was born as Dipannita. The wedding took place near Tista’s home at Agarpara and all their friends and family participated in every ritual of a Bengali wedding from Aiburobhaat to the D-day. However, Dipan’s family have stayed away from the wedding as they could not accept Dipan’s sexual identity.
