Mysterious blasts at Digha were from missile tests tourists

It was a peaceful Saturday morning with the Digha beach brimming with weekend tourists. Suddenly the peace was disturbed with two loud bangs. Blasts one after the other. The sounds were so deafening that tourists even left their hotels in Old Digha and came out on the roads suspecting it to be an earthquake as the whole area started shaking under the impact of the blast.

Walls of some hotels near the sea has also developed cracks and glass panes were shattered. However, after a day it was concluded that the blasts were a result of a sonic boom created due to military exercise to fire air-to-air missiles near the coastline broke the sound barrier.
