Flipkart has been working on the 100-acre warehouse at Haringhata Industrial Park near Kalyani, that will be operational from next year. This will be Flipkart’s largest warehouse in India. The company had planned an investment of Rs 990 crore when it announced the set-up in 2018. Once completed by next year, this facility will generate around 10,000 plus direct jobs. Employment of another 15,000 generated indirectly is also expected.
Flipkart officials have said the company is focussing on ‘localisation of their app platform’ and thus ‘empowering local suppliers.’ They are also eyeing at grocery delivery with pilot projects in five cities.
