106-year-old fruitcake unearthed in Antarctica

Antarctica happens to be one of the most hostile environments of the world, where humans cannot survive. But for more than a century, a fruit-cake did, and is still in an edible condition! New Zealand based Antarctic Heritage Trust, recently unearthed an ice-covered fruit cake probably belonging to the expedition team of British explorer, Robert Falcon Scott.

The cake was wrapped in paper and kept in a tin-plated iron alloy container, made by British biscuit company, Huntley & Palmers, that was once the largest biscuit manufacturers of the world.
